Loose Dog Reports
Here is a list of all Loose Dog Reports submitted to our site by residents of mauka Pa'auilo and Kalopa. These reports give information of sightings of loose dogs (unattended by people) that have been spotted by residents along our roads or in open areas. We ask residents to collect this information so that dogs may be returned to their owners, or identified as being potentially dangerous to residents, livestock or pets in our area.
The Status field indicates whether the dogs are still being monitored ("Open"), or whether the incident has been resolved ("Closed").

Two dogs w collars, chased car at 30 mph barking. (resubmitting report bc didnt include location)

Dog walking in the road on Kalaniai Rd. When we approached he slowly moved to the side of the road.
Outcome:
After we drove off he walked back in the street and another car had to stop to avoid hitting the dog.

Two dogs running in the middle of the road. We stopped as not to hit them and took pictures. These dogs have been seen in this are several time previously.
Outcome:
An off duty police officer was driving Makai and stopped as well. We figured he would handle and drove home.

Man running with his dog on A leash chased by 4 dogs down the road. Took A photo as driving, passed the house and 8-10 dogs all loose in the front. Drive by see for yourself. The goat was tied and 1 dog in the back area was tide. All other dogs lose on property.
Outcome:
Yelled at the dogs to go home and yelled out to Tie you dogs before they get banged on the road. Idiots

Pohakea Mauka Rd. just mauka of the first gulch.

Observed:
I was driving mauka and as I came to the wide bend to the right, I saw three dogs on the left side of the road. They were rummaging through trash for food. I stopped and took these two photos. One dog came over to the car, quite friendly. The other stayed with the garbage.
Outcome:
I was in a dangerous location for traffic so I left. I learned later from friends who live on Manienie that these two dogs belong to someone in the vicinity and are often running loose.

in middle of road and middle of owners driveway. 44- 2365 the owners don't care even after several calls to police and was told they have been issued citations. (bs)

3 big dogs and over 6 smaller pups
(They have At least 4-5 dogs on there property) always loose.
Outcome:
i stopped in the road Told the boy Jyrus the dogs need to be tied up and puppies in a cage if anything not roaming on the road. All he said was he knows. and held one dog as i drove away. idiots they do not care I've made several reports with these owners and Nothing is done about it. they are reckless owners and don't deserve to have dogs. the can easily be run over. (not these dogs) other dogs they have physically bit my mother and they still continue to ignore keeping them on there property. see barney maliki its his grandsons dog Jyrus. i have reports from 2023

Observed:
I was driving down Pohakea Mauka Rd. and just after the sharp turn over the gulch, I saw a large dog in the road ahead of me. The dog was staring at the small farm property on the right side of the road (chickens and ducks). I stopped and took the photograph below as the dog walked past me going back towards the gulch. I didn't stay to watch where the dog went since I was in a risky position on the road.
Outcome:
I drove away and didn't see where the dog went after that.

Dog lying in the middle of the road. When going slowly around the dog, it ran after the car and barked.

Since it was questionable if the dog was aggressive, we quickly carried on our way.

Single dog, black running on the roadway. Nearly hit by several other cars. Stopped and the dog came to my car, jumped in when I opened the door. I took the dog home and posted on Next Door.
