PMKCA's Monthly Newsletters

PMKCA issues a monthly newsletter to its members and others who subscribe to our MAILING LIST.  The newsletter is published in the monthly issue of the Hāmākua Times, a print format paper delivered to residents along the Hāmākua Coast.  PMKCA members who enjoy writing produce our articles on various subjects of interest to our communities.  (Older newsletters will be added over time.)

August 2024 - Big Property Tax Changes Coming for Small Farms

Every small farm that now receives property tax breaks by participating in the non-dedicated program, and wishes to continue receiving reduced property taxes, will have to re-apply for assessment under one of three new categories of farm classification by September, 2025.

Without slighting any other community along the Hāmākua Coast, there is something special about this elevation, this microclimate, this mix of cultures, occupations and pursuits, and contented retirement.
